APA-Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) The Supreme Council of Burkinabé in the Diaspora (CSBE) on Friday said the annual financial contribution of the migrants to the development of Burkina Faso has reached 50 billion CFA francs.
The Burkinabe government gave the information during a press conference aimed at justifying "the management of migratory flows" which it signed with France a week ago.
The permanent secretary of the CSBE, Sibiri Michel Ouédraogo, said this contribution only takes into account the remittances through banks, however "unable to estimate the contributions of the over 4,000 Burkinabe living in France."
Burkina Faso, a land of emigration with 20% of its population living abroad, has signed the agreement making it easier for France to "escort to the border" the illegal immigrants from Burkina Faso on its soil. Read more
